Music Room

Music at Aspire

At Aspire, our aim is to give all children access to a wide variety of musical instruments and musical concepts. These focus on the four main elements of music education:

  • Listening
  • Performing
  • Composing
  • Analysing

There is lots of emphasis on music lessons being as practical as possible. This means children will get to explore musical instruments and other modes of music making for the majority of the lesson, backed up by fun elements of music theory and music history.

At Aspire, we are continuing to grow our music resources, but the instruments and resources children work on currently are as follows:

  • Keyboards
  • Ukuleles
  • Electronic drum kit
  • A wide range of percussion (tuned and untuned)
  • Music technology - iPads and computers

And we also look at the following topics:

  • Music theory and notation (using mini music whiteboards)
  • Composing
  • Ensemble (band) playing
  • Investigating different styles of music including classical, Gamelan, samba, pop, rock, jazz
  • Christmas songs

We also aim to use Aspire’s incredible interactive immersive room to give children unique musical experiences that involve all of the senses.

Children at Aspire are also able to sign up for one-to-one instrument lessons through Andrew Parry Music. Specialist instrumental teachers visit Aspire and teach children one-to-one on their instrument of choice, and this individual time is so beneficial. The instruments available to learn are:

  • electronic drum kit
  • keyboard
  • ukulele
  • guitar (TBC)
  • singing (TBC)

These music lessons are generally parent funded, however there are some exceptions to this. If you would like to sign your child up for lessons, please visit: www.andrewparrymusic.com and for more information on possible other funding routes, contact Aspire School.
